Wisconsin DNR fisheries survey

Fish population survey

Structured LakeList extraction from the 2025 DNR fisheries survey. Population estimates, density, and catch-rate indices use different units, methods, and scopes, so each value is presented in its original form rather than normalized against a different measure.

Management contextThe report treats Decatur Lake and both millrace shorelines above Headgates Dam as one 4.0-mile survey area; every metric preserves that combined impoundment/channel scope.

DNR captured 25 fish species. Smallmouth bass were the dominant sport fish, bluegill the dominant panfish, nongame redhorse and common carp dominated the assemblage, and northern-pike electrofishing catches remained an imperfect population index.

  • The exact LakeList queue row has no WBIC, so the migration requires the reviewed existing LakeList UUID plus exact WI/name/county.
  • The narrative prints a 17.8-inch largemouth-bass maximum while Table 3 prints 17.0 inches; the conflicting maximum is excluded rather than choosing one.
  • Northern pike and black crappie electrofishing CPUE values remain gear-specific indices with the report's effectiveness/recruitment caveats.
  • Historical comparisons and 2025 private stocking rows are not relabeled as survey-catch metrics.
