Wisconsin DNR fisheries survey

Fish population survey

Structured LakeList extraction from the 2022 DNR fisheries survey. Population estimates, density, and catch-rate indices use different units, methods, and scopes, so each value is presented in its original form rather than normalized against a different measure.

Management contextThe report is specific to Cox Hollow Lake and combines distinct SN1 mark, SE1 recapture, SE2 centrarchid and fall juvenile-walleye samples. Values use the detailed species-results narrative and preserve gear-specific scope.

The 2022 comprehensive survey estimated moderate stocked adult walleye density, found high yellow perch and largemouth bass abundance, excellent bluegill size and condition, increased black crappie and pumpkinseed, and no documented young-of-year walleye recruitment.

  • The report contains internal count and CPUE conflicts: its summary/table gives 305 largemouth bass at 128.2/mile and 160.6 bluegill/mile, while detailed species narratives give 303 bass at 127.4/mile and 383 bluegill at 372/mile. LakeList retains the detailed species-narrative values and documents the conflict.
  • Walleye are stocking-dependent; the report recommends maintaining 2-4 walleye over 15 inches per acre and continuing large-fingerling stocking.
