Secchi clarity is how deep a black-and-white disk stays visible from the surface — more feet means clearer water.

Chlorophyll-a is an algae pigment; higher values signal more algae in the water column.

Total phosphorus is a nutrient that feeds algae and aquatic plants. It is not a weed survey — depth, bottom type, water movement, and management change the actual lake experience.

Management contextThe report is specific to Lake Ellwood and covers a June 14-15, 2022 late-spring panfish fyke-net survey of ten net-nights. Target-panfish and bycatch values retain this survey scope and are not whole-population estimates.

The 2022 survey documented a nearly five-fold bluegill CPUE increase since 2012 and a large rock bass increase after herbicide treatments stopped, with successful recruitment but relatively low size structure.

  • The report title uses Lake Ellwood while the exact LakeList canonical name is Ellwood Lake; the queue, county, UUID and WBIC identify the same target.
  • The survey targeted summer-spawning panfish, and the report states other species were not represented fairly by this gear.
