Sampled Mar 2025Volunteer monitoring since 1999

Murky, algae-prone water — summer clarity of 1 ft ranks among the lowest of monitored Wisconsin lakes.

Secchi clarity is how deep a black-and-white disk stays visible from the surface — more feet means clearer water.

Chlorophyll-a is an algae pigment; higher values signal more algae in the water column.

Total phosphorus is a nutrient that feeds algae and aquatic plants. It is not a weed survey — depth, bottom type, water movement, and management change the actual lake experience.

Management contextLake-specific August-October 2022 common-carp mark-recapture assessment plus spring 2023 fish survey. Queue WBIC 930700 and exact UUID gate insertion, but the report does not print a WBIC.

DNR estimated 9,568 common carp and very high carp biomass, documented an estimated 108 adult walleyes, and found increasingly abundant largemouth bass, bluegill and black crappie.

  • The report prints no WBIC; migration insertion still requires the exact reviewed LakeList UUID/WBIC/WI/name/county.
  • Figure captions incorrectly name Cox Hollow Lake; no values are taken from those mislabeled figures.
  • The executive-summary bluegill 17.1 fish/mile value conflicts with the body/table current value of 75 and appears historical; only the repeated body/table 2023 value is retained.
  • Walleye estimate CV is high and remains explicitly reported.

Depth FAQ

How deep is Ludden Lake?

Ludden Lake is 14 feet deep at its deepest point and averages about 5 feet, according to Wisconsin DNR records.

Is there a free depth map of Ludden Lake?

Yes. LakeList publishes a free interactive depth contour map of Ludden Lake at a typical 5-foot interval, with an optional 3D underwater view, derived from C-MAP Genesis community sonar (derived) survey data.

Where does the Ludden Lake depth map come from?

The interactive depth contours are derived from C-MAP Genesis community sonar (derived). Each contour set passes a visual QA review against the source document before it is published. The depths are derived from community sonar recordings (C-MAP Genesis Social Map, used with permission), with gaps between recordings interpolated; not for navigation.
