Wisconsin DNR fisheries survey

Fish population survey

Structured LakeList extraction from the 2025 DNR fisheries survey. Population estimates, density, and catch-rate indices use different units, methods, and scopes, so each value is presented in its original form rather than normalized against a different measure.

Management contextLake-specific 2025 spring fyke-net and late-spring electrofishing survey. Encounter totals, unique counts and modeled adult abundance remain distinct.

DNR found a low-density, older northern-pike population despite high encounter CPUE, a low-density stocked walleye fishery, very high-density slow-growing largemouth bass, fast-growing but low-to-moderate bluegill, and very few black crappie or yellow perch.

  • The detailed northern-pike result is 49 adults with a reported range of 38-68; the discussion rounds the estimate to 50, so LakeList retains the detailed value and notes the rounding.
  • Fyke nets were pulled at 40°F, potentially before walleye, black crappie and yellow perch were fully vulnerable to the gear.
  • Approximate electrofishing lengths for one black crappie and one yellow perch are excluded rather than converted to exact measurements.
  • Historical CPUE/PSD values and stocking-table rows are not relabeled as 2025 survey catches.
