This is a smooth mathematical model, not a survey - real holes, bars, and drop-offs will differ. Community sonar (C-MAP Genesis) overlays where recorded. Not for navigation.

Secchi clarity is how deep a black-and-white disk stays visible from the surface — more feet means clearer water.

Chlorophyll-a is an algae pigment; higher values signal more algae in the water column.

Total phosphorus is a nutrient that feeds algae and aquatic plants. It is not a weed survey — depth, bottom type, water movement, and management change the actual lake experience.

Wisconsin DNR fisheries survey

Fish population survey

Structured LakeList extraction from the 2025 DNR fisheries survey. Population estimates, density, and catch-rate indices use different units, methods, and scopes, so each value is presented in its original form rather than normalized against a different measure.

Management contextLake-specific comprehensive fisheries assessment conducted from April 2024 through May 2025. Fish metrics retain their 2024, 2025 or two-year survey scope and exact gear; angler metrics retain the May 2024-March 2025 creel-survey scope.

Wisconsin DNR found a lower-density, larger muskellunge fishery; low-density, high-size-structure walleye; high angler use and harvest of northern pike; average largemouth-bass abundance; and moderate but slow-growing black-crappie and bluegill populations.

  • The adult muskellunge estimate was 65 fish (95% CI 36-94) and the adult walleye estimate was 377 fish; these target-specific estimates are not mixed with CPUE indices.
  • Northern-pike early-spring nets were set after many fish may have spawned, so DNR warns the 1.7 fish/net-night index may understate abundance despite high angler catch and harvest.
  • Black-crappie catch metrics come from the 2024 SN2 survey while the aging figure identifies a 2025 SN2 sample; LakeList preserves those separate source scopes rather than merging years.
  • DNR recommends continued muskellunge stocking, deferred walleye stocking, northern-pike harvest, six-year bass/bluegill monitoring and twelve-year walleye/muskellunge population estimates.

Depth FAQ

How deep is Amnicon Lake?

Amnicon Lake is 31 feet deep at its deepest point and averages about 10 feet, according to Wisconsin DNR records.

Is there a free depth map of Amnicon Lake?

Yes. LakeList publishes a free interactive depth contour map of Amnicon Lake at a typical 5-foot interval, with an optional 3D underwater view, derived from LakeList depth model survey data.

Where does the Amnicon Lake depth map come from?

The interactive depth contours are derived from LakeList depth model. Each contour set passes a visual QA review against the source document before it is published. The depths are a modeled estimate calibrated to the lake's documented maximum depth - not a survey, and not for navigation.
