Fish population survey

Structured LakeList extraction from the 2024 DNR fisheries survey. Population estimates, density, and catch-rate indices use different units, methods, and scopes, so each value is presented in its original form rather than normalized against a different measure.

Management contextLake-wide tier-one assessment using spring fyke netting and electrofishing for an adult-walleye estimate plus indexed late-spring bass and panfish electrofishing. Muskellunge metrics explicitly combine DNR and volunteer-angler data from 2019-2024.

DNR found the highest adult-walleye density since 2006, stable smallmouth-bass abundance, a non-target pike sample with good size structure, and lower 2024 panfish catch rates.

  • The reported male, female and unknown-sex counts sum to 2,905 while the report separately states 2,950 total walleye sampled; sex-component counts and the derived sex ratio are excluded rather than reconciled.
  • Black-crappie RSD-10 is printed as 46 in the results and as 43% in the executive summary/discussion; that conflicting size metric is excluded.
  • Muskellunge metrics retain the combined 2019-2024 DNR/volunteer sample scope and are not represented as a 2024 population estimate.
  • Historical comparison values, stocking records and long-term mean age-0 walleye CPUE are excluded from current-survey metrics.
